Operating out of his home workshop in California, John Martz is best known for his alterations and upgrades of Luger and P-38 pistols, all of which were performed by him and often took several months of work. Manufactured using a combination of new-made components and vintage Luger parts, this pistol takes an overall form and configuration similar to a navy pattern Luger, up-sizes it to run the .45 ACP cartridge, and integrates the Martz Safe Toggle Release mechanism, which converts the safety switch into a dual purpose safety and toggle release lever. Blade front and fixed notch rear sights, with a "1911" dated chamber, "JVM" toggle link, "45 A C P" on the underside of the barrel, the "MSTR" mark on the left frame rail, "JVM/5" in circles under the sideplate, and a fine finish with straw and niter blue small parts. Fitted with a pair of fully checkered walnut grips, and one custom bright steel .45 ACP magazine with "2/9398/JVM" marked hardwood base.

Very fine as professionally custom converted to .45 ACP by John Martz, retaining 98% plus blue finish and 90% plus of the nitre blue and straw color with a few scattered light handling marks and some very light edge wear. The grips are also very fine with minimal handling marks and crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent.
