Description:

One of only 600 believed to have been produced in the mid to late 1850s. Standard markings and features including "C. SHARPS and Co. PHILADA PA" marking on the left of the receiver, blade front and elevation adjustable rear sights, and iron fittings. Matching numbers found on the upper tang, rear sight, and forend cap with "282" on the breech block, likely a factory error. Provenance: Firearms for Freedom Collection

Rating Definition:

Very good. Visible surfaces have turned to an attractive grey patina overall. The buttstock and forend are fine with most of the original varnish, dings and scratches, and a crack extending from the receiver to just past the forend screw. The patchbox and forend cap retain most of the original silver. Mechanically excellent.
