Description:

George Moller identified this blunderbuss as an English navy piece from c. 1740. The lock has a faint Georgian cipher at the center, and the iron barrel has Ordnance proofs and flares out to 2 inches at the muzzle. The furniture is brass. The stock has a raised "plateau" around the barrel tang and is unmarked aside from some faint Ordnance marks by the trigger guard and Moller's discreet "GDM" collection mark ahead of the toe. Provenance: The George Moller Collection

Rating Definition:

Very good with dark brown patina and moderate pitting along the barrel and lock and attractive dark aged patina on the brass furniture. The re-oiled stock is also very good and has minor scratches and dings, slight gap at the heel, minor repairs on the forend, and generally rather light wear for its age. Mechanically fine.
