Description:

Manufactured for the U.S. military circa 1876-77 with a total production approximately 5,934. "U.S." is stamped on the butt, U.S. Ordnance stamped "W" and "P" are on the rear cylinder face and underside of the barrel lug, and matching serial numbers are on the butt, cylinder and right grip panel. An encircled "T" is period non-factory carved on the left grip panel. Provenance: The Buckstix Collection

Rating Definition:

Very good, retaining 20% original blue finish in the protected areas, especially on the cylinder. 90% original nitre blue remains on the barrel latch assembly. Patterns of original case colors remain on the hammer and trigger guard. The grips are also very good with chipping along a high edge and minor handling marks. The cylinder does not lock properly, otherwise auction functions fine.
