Description:

The included letter from Enrique Gigoux Renard to Eric Vaule indicates these pistols were originally owned by Jose Arrieta and that Renard purchased them from Robert Davila Carson who owned them for over 60 years. Jose Arrieta (full name Jose Casimiro Arrieta Perera, b. 1833-d. 1911) was a wealthy Uruguayan and Chilean diplomat and business man. The pistols are an interesting design that is much rarer than Lefaucheux's more famous revolvers and shotguns. The lever on the right is attached to the breechblocks. Once lifted up, the lever on the left is then lifted which extracts the cartridge. The barrels are signed "E. Lefaucheux Bte a Paris" and have bead and notch sights. Lefaucheux markings are also on the breechblocks and bottom of the barrels. Lanyard rings are fitted to the butts. The figured walnut case has "Jose Arrieta" inscribed on the brass escutcheon and is closely fitted to the pistols and contains cleaning rods, an oiler, a screwdriver, and a key.

Rating Definition:

Very good with mostly dark brown and gray patina, traces of original finish, and general mild wear. The grips are fine and have moderate dents concentrated on the right and general mild wear. Mechanically fine. The case and accessories are very good with mild age and storage related wear.
