These 1917 rifles were the primary service rifle used by the American Expeditionary Forces throughout WWI and many saw service during the early days of WWII, making original unaltered examples very scarce. Barrel marked "W/flaming bomb/12-17" with fixed blade front and adjustable ladder and peep rear sights, standard receiver markings, and "eagle head" and "flaming bomb" proofs on the left receiver rail. With a "flaming bomb" stamped "NS" marked nickel steel bolt. Winchester manufactured pistol grip stock with an "W" stamped at the nose, and flat steel buttplate with trapdoor. Includes "1917" dated Winchester bayonet with leather sheath. Provenance: The George Moller Collection

Rating Definition:

Excellent, retaining 97% plus original blue finish with limited handling marks. Wood is also excellent with scattered dings and scratches. Mechanically excellent. Bayonet is very good with dings and scratches on the grip scales.
