The idea of the Texas Ranger Commemorative Colt Single Action Army revolver was conceived by Charles Schreiner III and Robert B. "Bob" Berryman in 1969 and production began in 1970 with a total of 1,000 manufactured. Serial numbers 1TR to 200TR were reserved for the deluxe engraved examples such as this gun. Each revolver came with a special commemorative glass-top presentation case and a genuine carved Mexican 5-peso silver coin Texas Ranger badge, as well as a copy of the book "A Pictorial History of the Texas Rangers (Schreiner & Berryman, 1969). Manufactured in 1970, this revolver features mostly full coverage floral scroll on a punch dot background, geometric patterns, and a wolf head hammer engraving executed by Master Engraver Ben Lane. The barrel also features two gold bands at the muzzle and two more near the frame. The rear of the engraved cylinder also features two inlaid gold bands. The left grip features a high relief carved longhorn steer head. Each flat of the front strap, back strap, and hammer feature a gold inlaid line following the perimeter. The back strap also features the inscription "TEXAS RANGERS" in a western font as well as a silver raised relief wreath around a Texas star. The barrel. cylinder, grip straps, and hammer feature a blue finish with the frame being gold plated with a black background on the engraving. Lane's "BGL" signature can be found on the front of the frame under the cylinder pin, as well as his monogram on the front strap ahead of the trigger guard. Includes walnut, two drawer glass top display case, a copy of "A Pictorial History of the Texas Rangers", acrylic encased Texas Ranger badge carved out of a silver Mexican five peso coin, and shipping boxes for both the gun and display case. Provenance: The Robert B. “Bob” Berryman Estate Collection

Rating Definition:

Exceptionally fine as engraved by Master Engraver Ben Lane. Retaining 99% blue finish and 98% plus gold finish with some minor flaking on the frame, limited handling marks, and crisp engraving. The grips are very fine with an attractive aged coloration and sharp carving. Mechanically excellent. Case is very fine with limited storage and handling marks.
