The Model 1862 Police was one of the last percussion revolvers introduced by Colt, and was and remains very popular. It combines the portability of the incredibly popular Model 1849 Pocket with more stopping power. This revolver was manufactured in 1863 and has standard markings along with the matching full or partial serial number on the frame, barrel, trigger guard, back strap, wedge, and cylinder pin. The left side of the grip features a relief carved bust of Columbia. The partitioned case contains a single face eagle "COLTS/PATENT" marked powder flask, "COLTS/PATENT" double cavity brass bullet mold and sealed package of five combustible envelope cartridges.
