Manufactured in 1895. The rifle has an overall blue finish with nitre blue loading gate, and casehardened hammer, trigger, and lever. The upper tang is marked with the correct three-line model, maker, and patent marking and fitted with an unmarked adjustable medium range peep sight. The left side of the lower tang (under the wood) is marked "4644 XXXS". Fitted with a smooth walnut forearm and attractive straight grip replacement stock with casehardened crescent buttplate. The interior of the buttplate and end of the replacement stock are unmarked. Provenance: The Brandhorst Collection

Rating Definition:

Fine with 70% original blue finish remaining, areas of high point and edge wear, takedown marks on the magazine tube, patches of brown/gray patina on the receiver, visible light pitting on the receiver, and visible marring on some of the screw heads. Loading gate retains 30% original nitre blue. The lever, hammer, and trigger retain 75% original dark case colors with light silvering and some patchy spotting. The refinished replacement wood is also fine with small scattered dings and mottled gray/brown patina on the buttplate. Mechanically excellent.
