Manufactured in 1878 as a Second Model with dust cover rail secured to the receiver by two screws and dust cover with serrations at the rear. Two-line address/King's patent marking on the barrel between the replacement dovetailed horn blade front and replacement elevation adjustable notch rear sights. Model designation marked on the upper tang and serial number on the lower. Mounted with a smooth forearm and straight grip stock with a trapdoor crescent buttplate (cleaning rod not included). The included factory letter confirms the current configuration except for the sights which are listed as "buckhorn", as well as receipt at the warehouse on 8 January 1880 and shipment on 1 March 1880 in order number 19298.
Very good, retains 25% original blue finish and faint traces of original case color patterns with the balance a mixture of brown and grey patinas. The revarnished wood is good with numerous dings and scratches scattered throughout. Mechanically excellent.
