This revolver features factory floral scroll and geometric engraving on the barrel, loading lever, frame, and trigger guard. The engraving is particularly dense on the frame. The scroll engraving on the cylinder is very similar to the patterns on two of the revolvers on page 88 of "The Guns of Remington" by Madaus. The gadroon designs on the top strap and under the cylinder have also been seen on other factory engraved Remington cartridge/cartridge conversion revolvers, and similar geometric designs on the barrels and back strap are also known. The barrel has a rounded blade front sight and is marked "PATENTED SEPT. 14 1858 MARCH 17. 1868/E. REMINGTON & SONS. ILION. NEW YORK. U.S.A./NEW MODEL." The revolver is numbered "15908" on the bottom of the barrel and left side of the grip frame at the toe, "724" on the rear of the trigger guard, "7" on the underside of the barrel behind the latch and the underside of the trigger guard, "496" on the breech plate and rear of the cylinder, and "23" on the cylinder pin.

Very fine with 85% original nickel plating, some slight loss mainly on the trigger guard, distinct markings and engraving, and generally minor overall wear. The grips are fine and have attractive natural patina and grain, minor age cracks, light scratches, a few chips visible on the left at the toe, and light handling wear. A screw is absent on the lower forward frame. Mechanically excellent.
