Description:

Modeled in the style of the huge bronze cannon named the “San Paolo” (Saint Paul) cast in 1635 by Cosimo Cenni for Ferdinand II of Medici. The “San Paolo” was one of a series of twelve cannon cast by Cenni with each being named after an Apostle. The original used 27,500 lbs of metal and is in the collections of the Museo Nazionale del Bargello in Florence, Italy. The model is made of embossed sheet brass with a lion’s head at the muzzle, an armored figure on the chase, the arms of the Medici on the first reinforce, and the head of St. Paul forming the cascabel. 28 inches in length, 1 1/8 inch gauge. On stepped hardwood display stand.

Rating Definition:

In very good condition, the brass with a mellowed patina with some handling and storage marks. The hardwood display stand in excellent condition.
