Description:

Manufactured originally as a standard issue M1 in June of 1942, this rifle was subsequently selected for upgrade to a Type II National Match rifle. Blade and peep sights, with the former unmarked and the latter marked "NM" on the staff, "NM/2A" on the right ear, "595" on the peep hood, and "NM BME" on the windage drum. The top of the operating rod is marked "NM", with a Springfield bolt and "3 66" dated barrel with "P", "M", "7.62 MM" and "DoD Eagle" stamps., and a relief cut "RA" operating rod. The stock is glass bedded and unmarked, with a checkered steel buttplate. A small yellow tag, possibly from Camp Perry, Ohio, is wrapped around the trigger guard. Provenance: The Allan Cors Collection

Rating Definition:

Exceptionally fine as armorer/arsenal National Match upgraded, with 97% plus parkerized finish, with some cycling wear on the receiver, mild edge wear and light handling marks. Some shallow pitting is present on the edges of the receiver heel. The fit of the trigger housing assembly is extremely tight, preventing inspection of internal components, and suggesting that the rifle has been apart little, if any, since it was upgraded. The stock is also very fine, with some scratches and dark spots. Mechanically excellent.
