This is an early WWI era wartime commercial contract Broomhandle Mauser pistol that is complete with the original combination wooden shoulder stock. This pistol has the wartime blued finish with the heat blued small parts and the grip panels with the narrow serrations. The top of the barrel chamber area is marked "WAFFENFABRIK/MAUSER/OBERNDORF A/N" and the left side of the chamber is marked with a "crown/U" with an additional "crown/U" proof on top of the rear section of the breech bolt and a small letter "M" Mauser proof on the underside of the barrel. The right side rear frame is marked "WAFFENFABRIK MAUSER/OBERNDORF A. NECKAR/D.R.P.U.A.P.". It is fitted with the standard fixed front sight, adjustable rear sight graduated from 50 to 1000 meters with the small ring hammer without the later "NS" markings. The pistol is fitted with the standard commercial 12 groove grip panels with a lanyard loop stud on the bottom of the butt. As noted, it is complete with an original and matching combination wooden shoulder stock with the matching attaching iron that is numbered on top.

Very fine with 85% plus of the slightly faded original blued finish with wear on the edges and high spots overall and the front edge of the frame and the grip straps. 40% of the original nitre blue remains on the small parts. The grips are fine with minimal handling marks with just some light wear on the front edges from use. The refinished stock is good with two old age/shrinkage cracks on the left side. The cracks are approximately 2 and 5 inches and have been repaired using period military field repair methods of threaded brass screws. The hinge on the stock retain 40% of the original blue finish. Mechanically excellent.
