Description:

The Norwegian Kongsberg Model 1914 was a modified copy of the U.S. Model 1911 pistol used by the Norwegian army. These pistols are nearly identical to the Colt Model 1911. This Model 1914 features a slide dated "1988" on the right side. The left side of the slide is marked with the later model 1914 caliber, model, and serial number marking with the Kongsberg Crest. Inspection mark under the date. Matching serial numbers found on frame, slide, trigger, safety, mainspring housing, grip safety, firing pin stop, magazine catch, recoil spring guide, recoil spring plug, barrel bushing, barrel, and slide release. Includes a letter stating this pistol was part of a twenty gun test shipment manufactured in 1987/88. These pistols were serialized starting where the original run left off in the 1940s. "Kongsberg-Colten" goes on to state these pistols were created using parts imported from the U.S. through Benet Arms of Afton, Virginia (importer marking found on left side of frame). This pistol is photographed and documented on page 191 of the aforementioned book by Karl Egil Hanevik. Also included is the original box, history plaque test target, an extra magazine, holster, gun belt, three magazine pouch, and an empty box of 11.25 mm Raufoss ammunition.

Rating Definition:

Excellent, retaining 99% plus original phosphate finish with limited handling marks and the slide and some parts aging to an attractive plum hue. The grips are excellent with limited varnish loss and crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent. All accessories are very good to very fine.
