Description:

This M1 Garand rifle is very desirable as it is only nine digits away from the M1 Garand presented to John Garand, serial number 1000000, which we sold in a previous auction. Manufactured in November of 1942, this Garand originally made its way into U.S. inventories just as the country was beginning to throw its full weight into the global conflict. It served in that capacity and subsequently went into the arsenal for rebuild, after which it fell into the collectors market and was restored back to World War II specs. Blade front and peep rear sights, with a visible set screw on the former and a set of early pattern adjustment drums ("BATTLE RANGE" windage and "LEFT/LEFT" elevation with closed arrows and locking bar) on the latter. Fitted with an "SA 10-42" barrel, "SA" bolt, trigger guard, trigger housing, hammer, safety and uncut operating rod. The stock is marked "S.A./E.McF." and "crossed cannons" on the left, with a circled serifed "P" on the wrist, "170" on the bottom of the wrist and buttstock, and a checkered steel buttplate. Includes a canvas sling.

Rating Definition:

Very fine, retains 95% plus of the arsenal refurbished parkerized finish with some light edge wear and some scattered light handling marks. The wood is also very fine with some scattered minor dings and scuffs. Mechanically excellent.
