Manufactured in 1970, this exceptional set is consecutively numbered, and beautifully embellished, showing 75% plus coverage American style floral scroll engraving and niter blue small parts/screws. According to "The Post-War Colt Single-Action Revolver 1955-1975" by Wilkerson, only 49 revolvers in .45 Long Colt with 7 1/2 inch barrels were shipped "in the white" or "green". The included factory letters confirm their configurations and that they were shipped with "green" finish indicating that the revolvers were shipped without final finishing for engraving outside the factory. The letter also indicates shipment to Wallace Beinfeld at D/B/A California Lawmen in Los Angeles, California on July 2 (61673SA) and April 26 (61674SA), 1972. Both revolvers are signed "WEL '18" for Master Engraver Weldon E. Lister on the front of the frames. Includes a glass top double gun display case with blue velvet lining and a copy of "The Rampant Colt" from Fall 2017 autographed on the cover by Lister. Per consignor, the case was built by Jim Hasson of Hasson Cases in Arizona and the grips were custom made by an artisan in El Paso, Texas, from English walnut believed to be over 100 years old.
Excellent overall, retaining a bright appearance and 99% plus niter blue with minimal handling marks and crisp engraving. Mechanically excellent. Case is also excellent with minimal storage and handling marks.
