Description:

Thanks to the French domination of much of Continental Europe in the early 19th century, the French Model 1777 was adopted by other European nations, including those captured when Napoleon's army was defeated. The barrel tang is marked "M1777." The lock is marked "Culenborg/Konikl: Gen:fabr:." The stock has a round cartouche on the right with the year "1808." The musket is fitted with a black leather sling. Moller's small "GDM" collection mark is near the toe. Provenance: The George Moller Collection

Rating Definition:

Good with mostly silver-gray patina, darker patina and mild pitting on the lock and breech section, and mild wear. The top jaw and jaw screw appear to be replacements. The re-oiled stock is also good and has mild scratches and dings, minor loss at the breech, some minor hairline cracks and small chips. Mechanically fine.
