Description:

Appears to be the 1796 model upgraded to the "Console" tubelock system with minimal parts changed out including replacing the flint with an iron "hammer" and swapping the frizzen and pan. The original flashhole is retained on the barrel. The barrel is turned down at the muzzle for a bayonet, has blade and notch sights, and is marked "IOS.H.A.N." and "837" on the breech section (probably the conversion date), and "55" and "1828" on the tang. The stock has brass furniture, "W" stamped on the wrist, a shallow cheek rest, a wood patchbox with rod attachments inside, and a leather sling. George Moller's small "GDM" stamp is by the toe. Provenance: The George Moller Collection

Rating Definition:

Fine with silver-gray and brown patina on the lock and barrel along with some mild pitting, aged patina on the brass, and mild overall wear. The stock is also fine and has some cracks mainly at the nose and tail of the lock, mild scratches and dings, and an absent barrel pin. Mechanically fine.
