This bronze depicts a native sitting on horseback in what appears to be a desert scene to the left of the duo on the ground is a bison skull, well weathered by the blowing sands. The left side of the ground reads "Inspired by/Frederic Remington/1905/Henry Bonnard/Bronze Co." The statue stands atop a marble base with a plaque on the front reading "THE VIGIL/BY FREDRIC REMINGTON". The bronze measures 20 1/2 inches tall, 22 inches wide, and 15 inches deep.
