Description:

The factory letter lists this revolver with a 6 1/2 inch barrel, nickel finish and checkered hard rubber grips when shipped on October 3, 1892 and delivered to Markt & Co., Hamburg, Germany. The left side of the barrel has a Parisian retailer marking: "FNI PAR GASTINNE-RENETTE A PARIS". As S&W historian Roy Jinks explains in the factory letter, the German distributor would have supplied this revolver to Gastinne Renette in Paris. The revolver has the correct 1 7/16 inch cylinder, right grip panel numbered to another gun and matching serial numbers on the butt, cylinder, barrel and barrel latch.

Rating Definition:

Very fine, retaining 98% factory Gastinne-Renette company post-inscription quality reapplied nickel finish with very limited light flaking. 90% of the case colors remain on the hammer and trigger. 70% of the blue finish remains on the trigger guard. The grips are excellent with crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent.
