Attractive Documented Turn-of-the-Century Factory Individual Sold Nickel Plated Pearl Gripped Colt Single Action Army Revolver with Texas Marked Holster Rig and Factory Letter

Manufactured in 1901. The top of the barrel is marked with the one line address, "45 COLT" on the left side and the two line, three patent dates are marked on the left side of the frame followed by the circled Rampant Colt. The matching serial number is marked on the bottom of the frame, trigger guard and back strap. The loading gate is marked with the assembly number "899". All nickel finish with niter blue screws, cylinder pin and release, blade front and frame notch rear sights and fitted with two piece factory pearl grips. The accompanying factory letter verifies the caliber, barrel length, nickel finish, pearl grips and that it was a one gun shipment sold to J.C. Nunn (unknown history) and shipped to Norvell Shapleigh Hardware Co. in St. Louis, Mo. On November 27, 1901. Includes a box of Remington-UMC .45 Colt cartridges (49/50) and leather holster rig marked "H.W. Curry Plainview Texas". Provenance: The Doug Ellison Collection

ConditionVery fine. The revolver retains 70% plus untouched original nickel plating with scattered wear and flaking. The exposed surfaces have a smooth brown patina. The trigger guard screws retain 50% of the original bright niter blue finish with traces of niter blue in protected areas on the remaining small parts. The grips are also very fine with some very small cracks developing around the right side escutcheon. The markings are clear. The holster rig is very good. Mechanically excellent.
