Description:

The included factory letter lists this rifle as having a .38 caliber 28 inch octagon barrel and pistol grip stock when shipped on January 27, 1892. The top barrel flat is marked with the two-line address/patent dates ahead of the rear sight and ".38-W." at the breech. The top of the receiver is marked "MARLIN SAFETY", and the serial number is marked on the bottom of the receiver. German silver front blade sight and an adjustable rear buckhorn sight as well as a tang mounted peep sight. Mounted with a deluxe checkered walnut forearm with steel endcap and pistol grip stock with a crescent buttplate. Matching numbers are found on the upper tang, stock inlet, and buttplate. Provenance: The Milan J. Turk Collection

Rating Definition:

Fine, retaining 70% original blue finish on the barrel and magazine with the balance thinning to brown as well as some oil staining. The receiver retains traces of the original blue finish with the balance a brown gray patina with pitting overall. The hammer, lever, and buttplate retain patterns of muted original case colors. Forend and stock are also fine with scattered dings and scratches as well as slightly softened checkering. Mechanically excellent.
