Description:

The Remington-Beals Navy revolver is similar in appearance to the Remington-Beals Army revolver but in 36 caliber and a 7 1/2 inch octagon barrel. The top barrel flat is marked "BEALS' PATENT. SEPT. 14. 1858./MANUFACTURED BY REMINGTON'S ILION. N.Y." Matching serial number marked on the bottom of the barrel and the left side of the frame under the grip panel. The matching number is also marked on the inside of each grip panel in pencil. German silver cone front sight, frame notch rear sight and fitted with smooth two-piece walnut grips. Manufactured from 1860 to 1862 with a total production of approximately 14,500, thus making this number, 14424, quite possibly among the last of this model produced. Provenance: The Milan J. Turk Collection

Rating Definition:

Fine. The frame and barrel retain 30% of the original blue finish, mainly in protected areas, with the balance having a smooth brown and gray patina. The cylinder retains 80% original bright blue finish with some minor flaking and edge wear. The hammer retains 60% of the original dull case colors. The trigger guard has a natural aged patina. The grips are very fine with almost all of the original varnish remaining, some minor lower edge wear, a few minor dings on the bottoms and overall a few minor dings and pressure dents. The barrel marking is crisp and clear. Mechanically excellent.
