Description:

Around 19,500 No. 32 Standard 1875 revolvers were manufactured by Marlin between 1875 to 1887. This example has the standard markings and features, has a desirable 2 1/4 inch barrel, and is also factory engraved on 75% of the metal surfaces with American style floral scroll. It is fitted with "Lady Pattern" DeGress grips with a woman playing a tambourine on the right grip, leafy scroll designs throughout, and the patent information on the left side. Francis DeGress of Bloomfield, New Jersey, patented his method for molded copper "pistol handles" treated with acid and then gilded with silver in 1874. Examples of his molded grips have been seen on revolvers of multiple manufacturers and are highly sought out by collectors. Provenance: The Milan J. Turk Collection

Rating Definition:

Very good, retains 75% plus of the period replated nickel finish with the balance having flaked to show mostly a smooth brown patina and slightly softened engraving. The grips are very fine retaining most of the original silver gilding. Mechanically excellent.
