Fine and Desirable Engraved James Reid "My Friend" Knuckle-Duster .22 Caliber Revolver

Manufactured from 1868 to 1882, these revolvers were intended to served the dual-purpose of pocket pistol and set of brass knuckles. It has a top strap groove sight with the left side marked "MY FRIEND PAT'D. DEC. 26, 1865", frame mounted safety, and "MY FRIEND" repeated on the lower left frame. Seven-shot unfluted cylinder, with matching numbers on the cylinder, cylinder pin and frame. Frame is decorated with leafy scroll, burst and punch dot engraving, with a starburst behind the hammer and a checkered shield panel on the rear of the solid grip. Provenance: The Milan J. ConditionFine, retains 60% of the bright original blue on the cylinder and traces of the original silver on the frame with the balance showing either a smooth grey patina or attractive antique patina on the brass and crisp engraving. The safety engages intermittently, otherwise mechanically fine.
