Description:

Manufactured in the 1870s and 1880s based on designs by Joseph Rider. Interestingly, more of these were engraved than were left plain. The design was clearly influenced by the popular Winchester rifles of the period and their predecessors. The Riders are among the earliest magazine fed pistols. The pistol takes up basically the same amount of pocket space as Remington's famous double derringer but allowed for five shots instead of two. This example has factory scroll and border engraving on the receiver and back strap as well as the standard sights and markings. The pistol is plated in gold and is wearing smooth pearl grips. Provenance: The Milan J. Turk Collection

Rating Definition:

Fine, retaining 40% original gold plating with a smooth gray patina on the balance. The engraving is crisp. The grips are excellent with limited handling marks and attractive fiery colors. Mechanically excellent.
