Description:

Manufactured in 1871, the first year of production. This four shot version is known as the "Cloverleaf" due to the shape of the cylinder when viewed from the front. Nickel plated finish with fire blue trigger and hammer. Pinched blade front and frame notch rear sights and fitted with smooth two piece walnut birds head grips. The top of the barrel is marked "COLT'S HOUSE PISTOL / HARTFORD CT. U.S.A." flanked by Maltese crosses and the serial number is marked on the butt and the bottom of the barrel. The revolver has a brass collection inventory tag marked "454" hanging from the ejector rod and is marked in gold paint "356" on the front strap and "197" on the back strap. Approximately 7,500 of the 10,000 House revolvers manufactured between 1871 and 1876 were in the Cloverleaf configuration. Provenance: The Milan J. Turk Collection

Rating Definition:

Excellent. The revolver retains 98% of the original finish with loss limited to very minor flaking on the edge of the frame along the grip and around the left side plate. The hammer retains 90% plus original bright niter blue. The grips are also excellent with some very minor high edge wear and light handling marks. The markings are crisp and clear. Mechanically excellent.
