Description:

Colt only manufactured approximately 1,100 revolving shotguns split between 10 and 20 gauge between 1860 and 1863, and they were part of a series of Model 1855 long guns manufactured by Colt that today are highly sought after. Examples of this limited production shotgun are scarce in any condition. These arms were also known as the Colt New Model Revolving Shotguns and are in basic design an enlarged version of the Colt Model 1855 Pocket revolvers. The barrel has a brass bead front sight. The top barrel flat is stamped "COLT'S PT/1856" and "ADDRESS COL. COLT/HARTFORD CT. U.S.A." Matching serial numbers on the frame, trigger guard and buttplate. Provenance: The Milan J. Turk Collection

Rating Definition:

Very good. The barrel retains 30% original blue finish with the balance a smooth brown patina. The frame retains strong amounts of original blue in and around the protected areas with the balance a smooth brown-gray patina. The cylinder and buttplate have a smooth dark brown patina. There is flash type pitting. The wood is fine with a couple stress lines at the upper tang and minor dings and scratches. The ramrod is cracked/separated in two places. The cylinder does not lock properly, otherwise action functions fine.
