Manufactured c. 1868-1888. Features a combination bead and globe front sight, notch and sliding peep rear sight, extra dovetail with filler block, adjustable single set trigger, checkered stock and forearm with crescent buttplate, "44 CTGE" on the bottom of the barrel, the two line-address and patent marking on the upper tang ending with the 1866 patent, and matching serial numbers on the barrel, forearm, and lower tang. Very good with strong original blue on the hammer and breech block, thing original blue finish on the barrel mostly faded to a mottle gray and brown patina, matching patina on the action and buttplate, some minor oxidation, and general mild overall wear. The wood is fine and has crisp checkering, attractive figure on the butt, a chip at the lower right corner of the wrist, and generally light wear. Mechanically excellent.
