Description:

Manufactured in 1905 with standard markings including Winchester factory oval proofs on the barrel and receiver at the breech, along with London proofs on the barrel, receiver, and breech block. The three-line patent and trademark information is on the upper tang and the serial number on the lower. The No. 1 weight barrel has the two-line address/patent marking, caliber marking at the breech, and is fitted with pinned blade front and "special" military type folding ladder rear sights. There is a cleaning rod fitted under the barrel and a sling swivel on the middle band. It is mounted with a smooth musket style forearm and straight grip stock with a sling swivel and military style buttplate. The included factory letter confirms the caliber, barrel weight, and "special rear sight, while listing the barrel length as 25 inches, which may be a factory error as the current correct barrel length is 28 inches. It lists receipt at the warehouse on 28 March 1911 and shipment on 30 August 1911. Provenance: The Milan J. Turk Collection

Rating Definition:

Fine. The rifle retains 60% original blue finish with the balance a smooth brown patina. Areas of original case colors remain on the lever, hammer, and breechblock. The stock is very good with a small hairline crack on the wrist, numerous minor handling marks, and a few minor gouges. Mechanically fine.
