Manufactured between 1914 and 1917. Blued Special Smokeless Steel barrel with single steel bead on the matted top, standard markings, and choke constriction measured at .020 inches. The blued action displays a trio of ruffed grouse in a field scene on the left and both a pair of mallards and a woodcock on the right all surrounded by fine floral scrollwork. Based on the time of manufacture, this gun was very likely engraved by Alden George Ulrich who was doing much of the engraving for Marlin at the time. Beautifully figured, fancy checkered forend and semi-pistol grip stock with hard rubber buttplate. Extremely fine overall, retaining 90% plus original blue finish, scattered minor spotting, some areas of dried grease, a few minor marks in the wood, and crisp checkering in the very fine wood. Mechanically excellent.
