This is an excellent, Colt Model 1902 Military pistol that was manufactured in early 1916. This pistol comes with a Colt factory letter that lists this as being in a shipment of 5 pistols sent to Miller Morse Hardware Company in Winnipeg, Canada. This model was one of the first truly successful Colt semi-automatic pistols and is easily distinguished from the Sporting Model by the square butt, slide lock on the left side of the slide and lanyard swivel on the lower left side of the frame. The left of the slide has a two-line, two-block marking that are all in the later style, block letters that consist of "PATENTED/APR.20.1897.SEPT.9,1902" followed by "COLT'S PT.F.A.MFG.CO./HARTFORD, CT.U.S.A." The right side is marked "AUTOMATIC COLT/CALIBRE 38 RIMLESS SMOKELESS". The Rampant Colt trademark is stamped behind the slide serrations on the left side. This model has the grip serrations on the rear of the slide and a spur hammer. The pistol has the Colt high polish commercial blue finish and case hardened hammer. The serial number is stamped on the left side of the frame above the trigger guard. The left side of the trigger guard bow is stamped with Colt "VP" proofmark and "1" assembler's mark. It comes with one all blued unmarked magazine.
Excellent with 97% of the original blue finish overall with edge and high spot wear, minor blue loss on the front edge of the slide with some minor scratches, thinning and spotting of the blue finish on the sides of the slide in some areas. The hammer retains 98% of its case colors. The grips are in excellent condition. A really nice, high condition, Colt Military Model 1902 semi-automatic pistol.
