Description:

Introduced late in World War II, the M2 Carbine was designed to work both as a factory-made machine gun as well as an armorer upgrade to the extant M1 carbine; this flexibility allowed armorers and arsenals to rapidly swap M1 and M2 components as needed to fulfill TOS requirements, and some manufacturers would make carbine receivers sans model number until the end of production, roll stamping the rest of the markings and then hand-stamping the "1" or "2" as needed for the day. "R" marked blade front and "PI" marked adjustable rear sights, "2-45" dated Inland barrel, with the Inland marking partially covered by the rear sight at the rear of the receiver and the "stamped number" model marking on the receiver ring. Internally, the carbine is fitted out with a milled Inland trigger housing, "W.I." transfer bar, "L.I." selector switch, "I-I" hammer, and "CD7161843" operating rod. The low wood four-rivet stock is the early "flat belly" pattern, with a "SI" marked Type III barrel band, "IO" upper handguard, "BR-B" stamped in the sling cut, "crossed cannons" on the right, checkered buttplate and a green canvas sling. An extra 15-round magazine is included.

Rating Definition:

Very fine, with 85% of the original parkerized finish, showing some rubbing on the side of the receiver from the selector switch, a bit of gray patina on the barrel, and mild edge wear and handling marks. The stock is very good, with mild dents and scratches. Mechanically excellent in both semi and full automatic modes. NOTE: This weapon is a National Firearms Act (NFA), fully transferable Class 3, which is registered with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, (BATFE) that is classified as a "Curios or Relic" as defined in 27 CFR, 478.11. These weapons are still subject to the provisions of 18 U.S.C. Chapter 44 and 27 CFR part 478.
