Description:

The visible portion of the print measures approximately 5 1/16 x 3 5/8 inches. The colorized print features a seated George Armstrong Custer in military uniform with an aiguillette attached to the shoulder and buttons, as well as a medal on his chest. This photo appears to be one of a set of photos of Custer which were taken at Fort Abraham Lincoln c. 1875, and are often cited as the last photographs taken of him before he was killed at the Battle of Little Bighorn along with his entire command. The back of the print is stamped "LIENT.COLONEL U.S.A.", "FORT ABRAHAM LINCOLN D.T.", and "G.A. Custer". The floral patterned frame is of brass with a small wire frame stand attached to the paperboard backing.

Rating Definition:

Very good, the print showing a distinct image with minimal fading or wear and clear markings on the back. The frame shows an attractively aged patina with some scattered light verdigris. A fine print of one of the most famous figures of the Indian Wars, shortly before his death!
