Manufactured in 1891. Fitted with a blade front sight and "R" marked Buffington rear sight, and the Model 1888 sliding ramrod bayonet. Boxed script "SWP/1891" (Samuel W. Porter) inspection cartouche marked on the left of the wrist, circled "P" proof behind the lower tang, and "US" marked buttplate tang. Includes period leather sling. Fine, retains 70% original blue finish on the barrel with smooth gray and brown patina on the balance mostly concentrated at the muzzle end, and some scattered light scratches. Retains 85% original case colors with scattered light freckling on the breech block. Stock is also fine with defined edges, numerous scattered light scratches and dings, and a crisp cartouche. Mechanically excellent.
