Manufactured only on a special order basis by invite from the company, these Galazan shotguns are among the most exclusive in the world and are all pieces of firearms art. Blued steel barrels with a single brass bead sight on the smooth concave solid rib which is marked "A. GALAZAN. NEW BRITAIN. CT. USA." in gold inlay along with a flourish of deep cut floral scroll at the base, panels of deep scroll engraving at either breech with a grouse in the left panel and a woodcock in the right, and 2 3/4 inch chambers (marked in gold on the right flat) with automatic ejectors. The grey finished assisted-opening round body pinless sidelock action displays exceptional full coverage deep relief cut scroll engraving incorporating seven separate game bird scenes and gold inlaid "A. GALAZAN" banners on the left, right, and underside. The scroll extends to the toplever, trigger guard, and tangs with gold inlaid serial number on the extended lower. The left lockplate shows a trio of quail being flushed by a dog, the left side of the action has a single grouse in flight, the underside has a pair of woodcock in flight, the right lockplate shows a trio of woodcock being flushed by at dog, the right of the action has a single woodcock in flight, the toplever shows a woodcock amongst branches, and the trigger guard has a pair of woodcock in flight. All of the engraving is rendered in high detail and was cut by the hand of Master Engraver Richard Roy, who has signed his work "RICHARD ROY 2003" on the trigger plate to the right of the trigger. Roy is the master engraver of Standard Manufacturing Co. who also operate out of New Britain, CT. The gun features bushed firing pins, a rolled trigger guard, single trigger, and a tang mounted manual safety switch with gold inlaid "S". Beautifully figured, exhibition quality, multi-point checkered splinter forend with engraved fittings, including the Anson button release, and straight grip stock with a checkered bare butt. Includes a brass cornered red leather bound takedown case with matching French fit interior cleaning tools, snap caps, and two brass oilers. Excellent overall, retaining 99% original blue and grey finishes with limited handling evidence, a few tiny marks on the stock, crisp engraving, and sharp checkering on the stock and forend.
