Description:

Colt New Service Revolver manufactured in 1912. The revolver is chambered for the .44 Russian cartridge and has the high polish, commercial blue finish with niter blue trigger and hammer top. The lanyard loop and ejector rod have a casehardened finish. The grips are checkered hard rubber with "COLT" in ovals at the top. The revolver has the early model and caliber markings on the left side of the barrel: "NEW SERVICE 44 RUSSIAN CTG." The top of the barrel has the two-line Hartford address and "1884", "1900", and "1905" patent dates. The caliber designation, "44" is marked on the underside of the barrel immediately ahead of the frame. The left side of the frame has the Rampant Colt in a stylized "C" behind the cylinder latch and the Colt "VP/triangle" proofmark and "3" assembler's mark stamped above the trigger guard bows. The serial number is stamped on the frame inside of the crane well and on the inside of the cylinder crane. Import marked under grips.

Rating Definition:

Very fine. The revolver retains 85% of the bright original high polish blue finish. The barrel has light to moderate finish loss at the muzzle and the sides. The frame and cylinder show minor handling and edge wear but retain most of the original high polish blue finish. The niter blue finish on the hammer and trigger is faded but 90% remains. The grips are also excellent with only minor handling wear. All markings are crisp. Mechanically excellent. A very fine condition early production New Service Revolver with rarely encountered markings.
