Description:

Manufactured in 1937, the top of the barrel is marked with the standard two-line address/patent dates, and the left is marked "NEW SERVICE 44-40". The Rampant Colt is on the left rear of the frame and the trigger guard marked with "VP" and "3". It is fitted with blade and frame notch sights and a pair of checkered hard rubber grips with "COLT" in ovals at the tops. The included factory letter confirms the current configuration as well as shipment to Albert Foster Jr. at Colt's New York office on the loan account on 1 April 1937, and that Foster then delivered the revolver to J.L. Galef in New York on 10 April 1937.

Rating Definition:

Fine, retains 60% plus of the original high polish blue finish with the balance having thinned to mostly a smooth brown patina, a spot of cold blue touch up visible on the left rear of the frame, a few patching of light oxidation/chemical type spotting on the cylinder, and some scattered light handling marks. The grips are also very good with a minor chip in the lower edge and minor flat spot in the checkering of the left panel, with otherwise light handling marks and crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent.
