Description:

The Model 1900 was DWM's first true commercial production Luger, and the American Eagle variant was intended specifically for the lucrative United States market. This particular example is the successor, the Model 1902, which is outfitted with the "fat" profile barrel to accommodate the more powerful 9mm Parabellum cartridge. Only 600 to 700 of these pistols in this chambering were manufactured and are found in the serial number ranges 22100-22300 and 22450-22900. It is marked with the distinctive American eagle crest on the top of the chamber and the DWM monogram on the front toggle link. The full serial number is on the bottom of the barrel and on the front of the frame over the "GERMANY" export mark. The partial serial number is visible on multiple other parts including inside each grip, and all visible numbers match. It is fitted with blade front and notch rear sights, fully checkered grips, and a correct nickeled magazine with wood base remarked "Cal. 9m/m". Includes a walnut stand. Provenance: The Klaus Meyer Collection

Rating Definition:

Very good, with extensive patches of cold blue touch ups visible on the upper right of the barrel extension and rear of the frame/toggle, the balance retaining traces of the original blue finish and 40% of the original straw colors with a few scattered patches of light surface pitting and light edge wear. The replacement grips are very fine with a few scattered light blemishes and otherwise crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent. A rarely found and desirable commercial Luger variation!
