Manufactured c. 1928. This rifle features blued barrels respectively signed “WILLIAM EVANS” and “63 PALL MALL. ST. JAMES’S LONDON”. The sunken concave rib has a ramp mounted luminescent bead front sight and a flip up moon sight, file cut matted quarter rib with express sight of one standing notch sight and two folding leaves each with platinum inlaid center line and graduated to 200 yards, and a rib extension. The casehardened treble grip action is signed “WILLIAM EVANS” on each side and has removable firing pin bushings, a blued toplever, manual safety with gold inlaid “SAFE”, casehardened trigger plate and blued floorplate. The furniture comprises a blued trigger guard and casehardened pistol grip cap. It is finely engraved with classic English scrollwork. The underside of the barrels and water table are struck with Birmingham nitro (Cordite) proof marks and Birmingham nitro reproof marks. An import mark is on the bottom of the rib under the forearm. The figured walnut pistol grip stock has panels of fine multi-point checkering on the grip and forearm, and the latter has a casehardened engraved lever fastener, orange rubber recoil pad, and raised cheek piece. The underside of the butt has a blued sling mount, and the corresponding sling mount is fitted beneath the barrels. Length of pull 14 13/16 inches. Weight 10 lbs. 4 oz. Fine as professionally refinished retaining near 100% renewed finish including a deep blue to the barrels and bright strong casehardening to the action. Engraving is crisp throughout, and the barrel signatures are recut. The stock is very good. Mechanically excellent.
