Blued steel barrels with single brass bead sight on the smooth, concave solid rib which is marked "JOSEPH LANG & SON. T. BURY STREET StJAMES'S, LONDON.", light engraving at the breeches, standard London proofs, and chambers proofed at 1 1/8 oz. (2 1/2 inches) with automatic ejectors. The casehardened sidelock action displays beautiful floral scroll engraving which extends to the tangs, trigger guard, and toplever. The gun features double triggers and a tang mounted automatic safety switch with gold inlaid "SAFE". Nicely figured, multi-point checkered splinter forend with engraved fittings, including the Anson button release, and a straight grip stock with teardrop carved flats, blank silver inscription oval, and checkered bare butt. This gun will letter as being delivered on August 18th, 1927 to a Mr. F. B. Cooley and built as a "12 Bore Best Quality Hammerless Sidelock Ejector Gun". Includes a leather bound Joseph Lang & Son takedown case with "F. B. C." on the lid containing a nickel oiler, two snap caps, and cleaning tools. Barrel and stock measurements (R/L): bore diameter measured nine inches from the breech both proved at "12" (.729 inches) and measured .744/.739 inches; choke constriction .008/.019 inches; minimum wall thickness .015/.024 inches; 1 7/16 inch drop at comb; 1 3/16 inch drop at heel; 14 9/16 inch length of pull; weight 6 lbs. 5 oz.

Very fine, retaining 97% plus original blue finish and 75% original casehardened finish with the balance fading to a silver color and minor handling evidence. The wood is also very fine with scattered scratches, slight chip at the left lockplate, and sharp checkering. The case is very good with minor wear. Mechanically excellent.
