Description:

Blued steel barrels with a single white bead sight on the matted solid rib, "BESCHI . MARIO" marked on the left barrel, 1981 dated Italian proofs, and 2 3/4 inch chambers with automatic ejectors. The coin finished sidelock action displays beautiful deep chisel cut floral scroll engraving which extends to the trigger guard, both tangs, and toplever and surrounds three separate game scenes. The left lockplate shows five quail in flight over a farm field, the underside has a pair of pheasant roosters in flight in an upland scene, and the right lockplate shows four grouse in flight over a field. The gun is signed on the right lockplate and the trigger plate by a member of the Galeazzi family, although the first initial is unclear. The gun features a rolled trigger guard, bushed firing pins, single trigger, and tang mounted manual safety switch with gold inlaid "SAFE". Nicely figured splinter forend with engraved fittings, including the Anson button style release, and straight grip stock with "RLW" in an inscription plate and a checkered bare butt. Barrel and stock measurements (R/L): bore diameter nine inches from the breech proved at 16.1/16.0 mm (.634/.630 inches) and measured at .636/.637 inches; choke constriction .025/.035 inches; minimum wall thickness .030/.027 inches; 1 1/2 inch drop at comb; 2 inch drop at heel; 15 1/8 inch length of pull; weight 6 lbs. 6 oz.

Rating Definition:

Excellent overall, retaining 99% original blue and coin finishes, some very scattered minor handling evidence, and sharp checkering on the stock and forend. The forend latch is sticky, otherwise mechanically excellent.
