The included factory letter states that the final inspection for this gun was completed on March 24, 1941 when it was built as a standard trap gun which was then later professionally embellished. Blued Winchester proof steel barrels with a dual bead sights on the raised, matted vent rib, standard Winchester markings, 3 inch wedges of floral scroll at either breech, chokes marked "FULL"/"MOD", and chambers marked 2 3/4 inches with automatic ejectors. The blued boxlock action displays near full coverage floral scroll engraving surrounding four gold inlaid game scenes. The left shows a setter, the right has a pointer, the underside shows a pair of pheasants, and the trigger guard has a dog's bust. The gun features a single gold plated selective trigger and a tang mounted manual safety switch. Beautifully figured, fluer-de-lis checkered beavertail forend with engraved fittings including the rotary latch release and a straight grip stock with red rubber recoil pad. Includes a second set of 26 inch barrels that have been numbered to match and have matching wedges at either breech and 2 9/16 inch chambers with ejectors and threaded choke tubes installed. Also included is a leather bound takedown case (with canvas cover) that houses the entire set along with cleaning tools, snap caps, and a Winchester Model 21 knife. Very fine as professionally embellished and upgraded to current configuration, retaining 99% of the blue and gold finishes with minor handling evidence. The wood is also very fine with only a few minor scratches and sharp checkering. The extra barrel is also very fine as embellished and the case is excellent. Mechanically excellent.
