Description:

This revolver was manufactured in 1850 and is marked with "-ADDRESS SAML COLT NEW YORK CITY-" on the barrel, "COLT'S/PATENT" on the left side of the frame, and matching serial numbers on the various components including the loading lever (wedge not matching). It features: cone front sight, hammer notch rear sight, barrel wedge over the screw, non-beveled loading cutout, square back trigger guard, and a smooth walnut grip. These "First Model" variants are only found in the first year of production and only 800 to 1,250 are estimated to have been produced.

Rating Definition:

Good. The revolver displays a mix of gray and brown patina and has patches of pitting, marks and scratches, and light oxidation. The loading rod has a welded repair. There are traces of original silver plating on the trigger guard bow. The exposed brass has an even aged patina. The grip is very good with a few small dings and light scrapes. Mechanically fine. Most of the markings are clear aside from the cylinder scene. This is a very rare and desirable Colt Model 1851 Navy variation.
