Description:

Included in this lot is a letter signed by John Hart stating that this pair of spurs were his personal property and that he wore them to various events including memorabilia shows, autograph signings, and parades. There is also a certificate of authenticity signed by Mick LaFever, Hart's friend and agent, certifying Hart's autograph, which is also present on an included personal check. John Hart's acting career began in 1937 with an uncredited role in "Daughter of Shanghai" followed by a plethora of rolls in all genres of film and TV, many of them Westerns. Two of his larger rolls were as Nat "Hawkeye" Cutler in "Hawkeye and the Last of the Mohicans" and as the Lone Ranger for a short time in the 1950s. Hart's final acting roll in 1982 was an appearance on the show "Happy Days", where he portrayed the Lone Ranger, who was Fonzie's childhood hero. It is possible these spurs were worn in any of Hart's various Western roles. The spurs themselves are of a simple military or "English" style, similar to those often issued during World War I, and retain their leather straps. Heel band width: 3/8" Shanks: 1 inch Heel opening: 3 1/8 inches.

Rating Definition:

Very good, the metal showing an attractively aged patina with some mild evidence of use and some light verdigris near the strap buttons. The dry straps are good showing moderate wear and some cracking. A very good piece of Lone Ranger memorabilia!
