Description:

The included factory letter lists this revolver as a "Smith & Wesson Model 19-4 .357 Combat Magnum, Pinned & Recessed Variation" shipped on August 14, 1980, to Lascar Distributors Inc. in Elmer, New Jersey. It letters with a 6 inch barrel with a Patridge front sight, target hammer, target trigger, blue finish, and checkered Goncalo Alves target grips and indicates the inscription was added after the original shipment in a group of 12 revolvers in this configuration. The inscription on the side plate on the right is what really sets this revolver apart. It reads: "TO THE BOSS/F.S. FROM/CHARLES." The inscription and the barrel markings have gold highlighting. The included letter from Henry "Hank" Cattaneo, Frank Sinatra's production manager and co-producer in the 1980s, indicates that this revolver was given to him by Frank Sinatra. He notes that Sinatra was uncomfortable with giving gifts himself, so instead he usually had someone else actually take care of the business for him. In this case, he had Cattaneo see his house-keeper, Vine Jourber, and she gave him the revolver on Sinatra's behalf while they were at a theatrical venue in the New York metro area. Cattaneo became Sinatra's production manager in 1980 and co-produced his final three albums. He also worked on production with Liza Minnelli, U2, and others. He notes that he did not know the background of the original presentation of this revolver, so who Charles is and the context of the presentation remains a bit of a mystery. Perhaps the inscription has something to do with his appearance on "Who's the Boss" in 1989 or with his friend and fellow musical great Ray Charles. Frank Sinatra is known to have owned many firearms, including multiple personalized Smith & Wesson revolvers and a golden Uzi, and passed multiple firearms on to Cattaneo who was a firearms collector at the same time as this revolver. Sinatra needs little introduction. Revolver notes: "Undoubtedly one of the most influential music artists of the 20th century, Frank Sinatra was born December 1915 in Hoboken, New Jersey. He is one of the best-selling music artists of all time, having sold more than 150 million records worldwide." He is known to have often been concealed carrying when performing. In addition to his vocal talents, Sinatra was an award winning movie star and appeared in a wide range of movies from silly comedies to noir detective thrillers, and he plays a gunslinger in many films.

Rating Definition:

Excellent overall with only minimal light handling, storage, and firing marks on the metal and grips. Mechanically excellent. The presence of flash marks on the cylinder suggests Sinatra likely shot this revolver himself. This is a very rare chance to get your hands on an excellent Smith & Wesson revolver presented first to "Ol' Blue Eyes" himself and subsequently to his production manager and co-producer Hank Cattaneo.
