Description:

This rifle very is similar to the various Steven's "Pocket Rifles," particularly the Hunter's Pet Pocket Rifle No. 34. However, there are no Stevens markings, and the screws enter from the right side rather than the left. The only markings found are the Lyman's patent on the beaded front sight and "-PAT. JAN. 29. 1901-" on the rear sight which came off of a Winchester .22, perhaps the whole barrel did. The firing pin is secured by a bushing in the frame. The spur trigger is knurled and enclosed in a trigger guard with a scroll front. The nickel plated frame, trigger guard, and hammer have English style scroll engraving. The rosewood grips have antique ivory diamond inlays. The detachable shoulder stock has an "S" scroll design. This may be a prototype or special custom build.

Rating Definition:

Fine with 85% plus blue and refinished nickel plated finish, solder visible on the left side of frame around the barrel screw, distinct engraving, and mild overall wear. The grips are also fine and have some minor edge wear and handling and storage marks. Mechanically fine.
