Manufactured by Simeon North of Middletown, Connecticut, between 1817-1820. First type marking "S. NORTH/U(eagle and shield)S/MIDLn CON" at the center of the lock. "P/US" stamped on top of the breech. A blade front sight is fitted to the front strap of the barrel band. The left stock flat is stamped with an oval script "LS" (Luther Sage) inspection cartouche, and "3" is stamped above the right of the pommel. Includes a correct wooden ramrod.

Fine, retains half of the darkened original brown finish mixed with brown patina, period refinished dark casehardening on the lock with a few patches of light pitting, and defined markings in the metal. Wood is also fine as re-oiled with some dents and scratches, a few large re-glued cracks on the left flat, a re-glued section and an absent section between the hammer and rear of the barrel, an old filled in repair above the front of the pommel, and a crisp cartouche. Mechanically excellent.
