The grouping includes two Naval Aviator wings, a single-wing "US" badge, "O" observer badge, five bombardment wing badges, eighteen "US" wing badges, twenty-seven total. Many are constructed from silver, with the Naval wings gold washed and one of the bombardment wings in silver wire bullion. One of the US wing sets is inscribed "FROM/E.W.McCOLLUM/AND CREW/TO/MAJOR PEABODY/U.S.A.", another has "DSN" cut into the back, and one of the naval sets is inscribed "LT.ROBERT/NICHOLSON/12-5-28"; McCollum, Peabody, "DSN" and Nicholson have not been positively identified.
